I have hidden most of my life and my personal day directly affects the way I have grown my business. My company, tangible, flows under the radar for years. Our team has created an incredible job and created years of long partnership with some of the most innovative brands in the world, but no one else knew who we did.
Today I am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community and I feel strong that now more than ever is it important No Hide – personally and professionally. That’s why I write it here.
When I was a young man in my formative years, I didn’t know one strange man. Not one. The only images of the Queer of the people that we portrayed from the movies and the media that Einder described as villains or people who like to wear high heels – with whom I identified. If I knew only one person like me, WoW changed the trajectory of my life.
Since then, Harvey Milk has become an inspiration. When I was younger, I only knew about him that he was in San Francisco, who was unfortunately and unfairly murdered. But the more I learn about him, the more I do not pose why it is so vital for the future of business, justice and inclusion.
According to the definition of the initiative for creating workplaces and communities, where people from all backgrounds, identities and experience have equal opportunities for success, feel valuations and contribute meaningfully. In the business world, this means creating work that is open, honest and safe, so anyone – no matter where they come from, who they love or believe – can prove to be their real self.
What’s more, studies show that investment in Dei had a direct impact on business success. In 2023, the McKinsey report revealed: “A strong business case for ethnic diversity is also over time, with 39 pierients to increase the likelihood of overcoming for those in the upper quarter of the ethnic representation versus the lower quartile.”
In 2018, the Boston Consulting Group released an earlier study that shows that “companies that reported above -average diversity in their management teams also showed income from innovation, 19 percentage points higher than the company with below -average management”.
So how can you learn from my story and continue to do dei priority? In accordance with the principles of Milk, let’s look at some ways to get personal and business to the next level.

Visibility as a force
Milk Champion’s idea that visibility changes the heart and mind. Just as he urged people to go out, your audience will grow if you illuminate the thing that makes your brand different. To tell people who you are not limiting no one-everybody has the right to choose what they want to support-and even a strong alliance of the brand can create, because customers have become such a purpose. Whether your company is LGBTQIA+-a small minority, a woman owned or just a small independent business, screaming from roofs and use this community visibility to build real connections.
Authenticity in the leadership
Visibility as a business is a direct consequence of authenticity in management. Any company can claim claims about its mission and values, but if it does not come from the place of truth, no one buy what you sell. If you want to lead a company that people believe and stand up, you have to share your “why”. Why do you do what you do? Why is your company associated with a certain cause or community? Why is this important to you? Be open. Leave people in. And Don is afraid to show that leaders are also people.

Economic strengthening of the position
Milk understood that equality was not only social; It is also economic. Increasing awareness of the differences of your brand and joining organizations that support this effort also provides on ramps on new business opportunities and relationships, as it has learned that there will be other companies that will look for partnerships with businesses like yours. In addition, this type of authorization creates opportunities for other people in your community, leading to holistic progress. Which brings me to my next …
Inspiration for others
You may be an inspiration for others. I thought maybe my story didn’t matter-and I admit that there are so many people fighting more battles than mine, but also the smallest stories of self-acceptance, growth and love affairs. At the end of the day there are business and their customers only people. View as a pattern for the next generation means creating a safe space for them to set up their own special -purpose businesses and services.
“Hope will never be silent”
In my opinion, this is the most important principles. The famous words of milk are constantly reminding me that it depends on the representation. Businesses should reflect the people they serve. Period. I hope more brands have bravery to fight for their people. He is lucky to work with a number of brands that do it just.
This is an interesting time for Dei in America. Sales in January feel like a brand after the brand was in the news for expanding its efforts and it is always a real blow. But for each brand that extends its efforts, there is at least one – perhaps more – that doubles on the principles of Harvey Milk, who makes this process correctly with his people and customers.

So, taking into account the attitude that your own business wants to take, ask yourself the following important questions: What do you feel faithful and brand for you? What do you want people to see and how can you be an inspiration for others? How can you build more transparency to make it happen? Remember the words of milk. And not to break.
